Why health testing matters to us
Health testing is one of my highest priorities because I believe every family deserves the best possible start with their new puppy. By health and DNA testing my parent dogs, I can make informed breeding decisions and better understand the genetic health of future litters. For me, responsible breeding is about much more than appearance. While beautiful puppies are wonderful, my primary focus is on health, temperament, and overall well-being. I want to raise puppies that are healthy, happy, and capable of living long, fulfilling lives with their families. At AVC Poodles, I believe prevention is better than surprises. Health testing gives me valuable information and provides families with added confidence and peace of mind. It’s one of the many ways I show my commitment to the dogs I love and the families who trust me with their future companion. Above all, my goal is to produce healthy, well-socialized puppies with wonderful temperaments that will bring joy to their families.
Our comprehensive health and DNA checks
Health testing is an important part of my breeding program. All of my parent dogs undergo DNA and genetic health screening through Embark, which evaluates them for hundreds of inherited health conditions and provides valuable information about their genetic makeup. I carefully review the results and use that information to make responsible breeding decisions. My goal is to reduce the risk of passing on inherited health conditions and to produce healthy puppies with strong temperaments and sound structure. In addition to DNA testing, my dogs receive regular veterinary care and wellness exams. Before going home, every puppy receives a veterinary health examination, age-appropriate vaccinations, and a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian confirming they are healthy at the time of departure. Health testing gives me peace of mind as a breeder and helps provide families with confidence that their puppy comes from carefully selected, health-tested parents.
