Before beginning the application process, we encourage all prospective families to review our "Poodle Care Acknowledgment" form. This ensures you are fully informed about the unique needs and responsibilities that come with owning a toy or miniature poodle. We want to ensure a happy and healthy life for our puppies and a fulfilling experience for their new families.
Important health considerations
Despite thorough health testing and responsible breeding practices, Toy Poodles remain susceptible to certain health issues.
These charming dogs are at risk for several genetic and breed-specific health concerns, including patellar luxation, Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease, epilepsy, eye disorders, and thyroid or bleeding disorders.
Due to their small size and fragile bone structure, it is essential to take precautions to avoid falls, excessive jumping, rough play, long strenuous walks, and improper handling. Always supervise young children around your Toy Poodle, and ensure that carriers or sling bags provide adequate support for the puppy’s entire body.
Dental health is particularly crucial for small breeds, as they are more prone to dental diseases. Regular brushing, veterinary dental check-ups, and maintaining good oral hygiene are highly recommended.
Toy Poodles also need regular grooming and ear care. Their coats require frequent brushing and professional grooming to prevent matting. Keep their ears clean, dry, and free from excessive hair or buildup, as Poodles can be prone to ear infections. Manage or pluck ear hair when necessary. Consistent veterinary care, maintaining a healthy weight, providing proper nutrition, gentle exercise, and good grooming practices are all vital for ensuring your Poodle remains healthy and comfortable.
